Hughes River Expeditions has been outfitting world-class rafting vacations since 1976. You will find us on some of the West’s most spectacular whitewater rivers: the Snake River through Hells Canyon, Idaho’s famous Middle Fork of the Salmon, the incredible Salmon River Canyon, and eastern Oregon’s beautiful Wallowa and Grande Ronde.
For 50 years, we’ve safely guided curious travelers through the tumultuous Wild River Section of Hells Canyon. We’re the only company that starts its tours in this deep section of the canyon; others must travel upriver to get to our launch point. It’s an amazing introduction to this untamed stretch of one of the West’s greatest rivers.
Recreation abounds in the Cambridge area with the ruggedly beautiful Hells Canyon of the Snake River just 24 miles to the west on State Highway 71. Nearly 100 miles of backwater from three Idaho Power Hydroelectric dams provide ample space for watercraft enthusiasts and anglers alike. Rafters and kayakers love the swift whitewater rapids below Hells Canyon Dam as the mighty Snake River flows north to join the Clearwater at Lewiston, Idaho.
Located high in the mountains of Central Idaho, Brundage Mountain is best known for its powder-packed glades and luxuriously wide groomed runs. Blessed with over 320 base area inches of snowfall annually, Brundage has an undisputed reputation for the best snow in Idaho.
The Pictures of Cascade Photo Gallery by area resident Mike Huston reveals the beauty of the Cascade, Donnelly, and McCall Idaho areas of Valley County. Most of these pictures are located in the Central Idaho Mountains, in the Payette River Valley (Long Valley). They include photos of Tamarack and Brundage Resorts, Lakes and Landmarks in the region of Idaho, Valley, Adams, and Boise Counties. Even some outside of the area such as the climb up Mount Borah. We hope that you will enjoy many of the lakes and landmarks of the area.
In addition to our great Food and Craft/Merchandise vendors and free entertainment stage, local makers, artisans, and traditional skills practitioners will be presenting demonstrations in our special and brand new Demonstration Booths area. Every couple of hours, there will be a new demonstration where you can observe, ask questions, actively engage, and learn from these knowledgeable folks. You will have an opportunity to see how soap is made, cast with a fly-fishing rod, build habitats for pollinator insects, throw pottery, spin yarn, carve wood, and so much more!
